Four Broadway stars who met as part of the production of “Jersey Boys” will once again put on a show for New Yorkers when they perform at the Colden Center for the Arts at Queens College on Saturday, April 9.
Tony Award winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Richard and Tony Award nominee J. Robert Spencer were part of the original “Jersey Boys” cast. In addition to doing the show together, the four began performing at a lot of private events, which is how Longoria said they really began to bond with one another.
Once they left “Jersey Boys” the men went in separate directions but started getting calls to do more shows.
“We started missing each other,” said Longoria, who played Frankie Valli in “Jersey Boys.”
Now calling themselves The Midtown Men, they perform music from ‘60s groups like The Four Seasons, The Beatles, The Jackson 5, The Temptations and The Beach Boys. Longoria said the men have been able to add their own flavor and sound to the songs and described it as an “eclectic rock concert of amazing ‘60s tunes.”
“The ‘60s produced some of the greatest songs ever written, so we’re having a ball adding our own style to those great songs everyone loves,” said Hoff, who won a Tony Award for his part in “Jersey Boys.”
As The Midtown Men, Longoria said that audiences also get a chance to see who they are as people while also hearing stories about what has happened during their careers.
Longoria said the upcoming performance at the Colden Center will be an “amazing reunion” between the actors and the fans who saw them in “Jersey Boys.” He noted that this will be their first big show in New York since leaving “Jersey Boys” in 2008.
“This will be our Queens debut, so that’s going to be another cool thing,” Longoria said, adding that they always love doing their first shows in new places.
Longoria also said that he’s “really excited” to come to New York and sing for everyone and that he hopes they “rock the house that night.”
After the performance, the performers will also take part in a meet and greet with audience members. Longoria explained that it has been a tradition of theirs to meet people after every show.
“We have to always thank those people who came out to support us,” Longoria said.
The performance will take place at the Colden Center, located at 65-30 Kissena Boulevard in Flushing on the Queens College campus, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
