All of the little leagues across Queens are about to hit the diamond – and that includes the Ozone-Howard Little League.
The season swings into action on Monday, April 11, at the Howard Beach baseball and softball fields in South Ozone Park.
Joe Bode, president of the Ozone-Howard Little League, said that the kids aren’t the only ones excited about getting back onto the field.
“For me, it’s always a great time of year,” he said. “We’re all very excited to see some baseball again and enjoy the change in weather.”
With five games scheduled for opening day, Bode said that it’s a great opportunity for the Ozone-Howard community to get together and cheer on the ballplayers on the oasis of green grass that is the baseball and softball fields.
“Everyone comes together for this. It’s one of the biggest attractions in the area,” he said. “You come out, watch some baseball and see your friends. It’s the best time of the year.”
