St. Michael’s Cemetery on Astoria Boulevard asks the public to participate in their Scott Joplin Concert on Saturday, May 14, by coming and contributing food, beverages or financial aid.
The free day of music begins at 2 p.m. with a barbeque and will showcase the Canary Cottage Dance Orchestra and the Victrolian Vaudeville Barbershop Quartette, which a radio host will tape for later broadcast.
Attendees are asked to bring food or beverages to serve the public and help enjoy the concert. The event served nearly 1,000 burgers and franks last year. Those who contribute will also be displayed on any advertisements or announcements made for the event.
This year, the concert will honor the American Cancer Society (ACS) and leaders from the organization will be present to address the audience about the work that the ACS has done. Attendees are also welcome to enjoy a car show, led by Gullwing Motor Cars.
All those who wish to contribute to the event should contact St. Michael’s Cemetery at 718-278-3240.
