JFK AIRPORT — The pilot of a JetBlue airplane thought a bird strike was cause for concern Saturday night, but passengers thought it was time for dinner.
The Aruba-bound 757 was carrying 104 people and was scheduled for take-off at 11:29 a.m. from John F. Kennedy International Airport. But shortly after the plane was airborne, a bird struck one of the airliner’s engines.
Out of a concern for safety, the pilot decided to return to JFK.
But the New York Post reported that after the bird was sucked into the engine, many people aboard plane reported smelling the appetizing aroma of cooked chicken, or alternatively burnt turkey.
The passengers were put on another plane to restart the trip.
