EIHAB Human Services, Inc. celebrated the grand opening of its third Day Habilitation facility serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
The program, located at 177-50 South Conduit Avenue in Springfield Gardens, will serve 75 individuals and will be staffed by over 20 employees. In addition to the conference and activity rooms, the facility features a model apartment, a computer laboratory, and a state-of-the-art exercise room. The program is fully handicap accessible.
The celebration was a great success, attended by 150 people, including individuals to be served and their families, officials from the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), and distinguished community leaders. Speakers included Jill Gentile (Associate Commissioner of OPWDD), Congressmember Gregory Meeks, Donna Limiti (Director of Brooklyn Developmental Disabilities Services Offices), Ambassador Youssef Zada (Consul General of Egypt), and Fatma Abboud, CEO of EIHAB.
During the ceremony Abboud was presented with a plaque by the EIHAB Board of Directors honoring her late son Eihab Hegazy. EIHAB Human Services was founded by Eihab Hegazy and Fatma Abboud. The Board of Directors paid tribute to his memory and the outstanding services that EIHAB Human Services has provided for individuals throughout the years.
