Key Food’s expansion of its 46th Street supermarket is near completion.
The expansion is part of a major redevelopment of the site, which includes the building of office space and rental property on the Greenpoint Ave. portion of the site.
According to Raide Zahriyeh, the manager of Key Food, the development will include seven rental apartments and two office suites above the supermarket, which are expected to be completed by October.
On Monday, the supermarket began selling food products in a portion of the new ground-floor space. In two weeks time, Key Food is expected to fully utilize this new area. However, once the supermarket expansion is complete, Key Food will begin refurbishing its existing space and be closing off sections bit-by-bit.
