City Councilmember Dan Halloran recently presented a city citation to Katherine McQuade, 15, a competitor in this year’s America’s National Teenager Pageant, at his district office in Whitestone.
A star student at the Professional Performing Arts School, McQuade is an active member of her community volunteering at numerous local organizations and charities. McQuade created her own charity called Potholders for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness, which has raised almost $1,000 in donations for the Lustgarten Foundation. Her goal is to raise at least $25,000.
Halloran wrote the pageant’s committee a letter of support for her candidacy. The national pageant is in Miami from July 24 to the 31.
“Katherine is an amazing young woman, and I know she will represent Whitestone well at the national competition,” said Halloran. I am proud to call her my neighbor and constituent.” – Georgia Panagi
