A recent picture in the newspaper relative to rent regulation showed a gentleman holding up a sign reading “New York is not just for the rich.” Is he kidding?
Half the people in New York City who work do not pay any income tax and at least one-third of the people in New York City get food stamps, Medicaid or public assistance — all of which are paid for by the rich.
Of course, the people who pay the bills are not rich, but they are taxpayers who work their fannies off and pay taxes to the city to support all these people who say they cannot afford food, rent or other things.
Thank God some of us realize that the $65 billion city budget is not paid for by the fairy godfather.
