Communities celebrate with their cops

On Tuesday August 2, Queens celebrated the 28th annual “National Night Out Against Crime.” The special anti-crime event is observed with a full schedule of events ranging from crime prevention lectures to youth activities. Area residents are able to meet with the police officers and law enforcement officials who protect their neighborhoods.
“‘National Night Out Against Crime’ was established nearly three decades ago during the height of New York City’s violent street crime epidemic as a way for citizens to symbolically reclaim their streets,” said District Attorney Richard A. Brown. “Now, as the crime rate continues to plummet, ‘National Night Out’ remains an important reminder of the need to remain vigilant in the fight for public safety.”
