Arm wrestling coming to Queens

The New York Arm Wrestling Association announced that over 150 men, women and children will flex their muscles and come to grips at the White Castle 34th Annual two-day Queensboro Arm Wrestling Championships.
The events, on September 17 and 18, will begin on both days at 1 p.m. on the main stage located within the fairgrounds at the Queens County Farm Museum’s Queens County Fair, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway in Floral Park. Admission is $8 and $5 for children under 12.
The White Castle Queens Open Junior and Novice Adults Arm Wrestling Challenge will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 1 p.m. for boys and girls 7 to 17 years old and novice male and female adults in various weight and age categories. There will be awards for first, second and third place. No entry fees will be charged with paid admission, but a parent or guardian signature is required for anyone 17 years old and under.
“We are very excited to celebrate our 29th Annual Queens County Fair,” said Amy Boncardo, the executive director of the Queens County Farm Museum. “The Queens Arm Wrestling Championships is an exciting opportunity to watch friends and family strut their strength. It’s a great experience for children and adults of all ages.”
The arm wrestling championship’s main event, to be held on Sunday, September 18, features 14 amateur and pro weight class categories for men and women. Queens strongest man and woman will receive $100 cash prizes. The entry fee is $20 and does not include admission. The event is part of the New York Golden Arm Series consisting of six preliminary championships that lead up to the Empire State Final in November.
“We expect some of the city’s best athletes to compete at the 34th Annual White Castle Queensboro Championships, the oldest and most popular of all the borough championships, because the first official Queens Arm Wrestling event was at the old Sunnyside Gardens in 1977,” said Gene Camp, the founder and president of the New York Arm Wrestling Association. “We are also excited about the Queens Junior and Novice Arm Wrestling addition, which is always a great audience crowd pleaser and a lot of fun for kids and adult beginners”
