Oldies concert

My wife, friends and I attended a concert last Saturday night at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow to watch a free concert of ‘50s and ‘60s music. We met many people at this concert who traveled from Queens and Brooklyn for this event, like we had done. There is still much appreciation for the oldies.
The groups were: The Emotions, The Del Satins, and The Brooklyn Bridge. They performed on stage at the Harry Chapin Theater. The music was great and it brought back many memories of a long forgotten past of our youth.
But the real great thing was that the emcee asked all those to stand up who were serving our country and they did and received a standing ovation.
It brought a small tear to my eye, for I remember the Vietnam War and the return of so many of us and that there was not this kind of appreciation for the many who gave so much for their country.
