KISSENA PARK — A teenage girl was rescued from a storm drain that she fell into while hanging out with friends Friday night.
The unidentified teen was recuperating from a broken leg at Long Island Jewish Hospital, where she was taken after 65 firefighters pulled her out of the confined space, firefighters said.
She fell into the storm drain in the park around 10:30 p.m. and her friends called 911 for help, according to the FDNY.
A special FDNY unit responded and set up a tripod and pulley system to go down, inspect the scene and pull her back up, according to an FDNY spokesman.
“It was dark and cold, but they didn’t want to do anything in haste,” the spokesman said of the one-hour operation.
