City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer (center) joined Sanitation Department Chief Thomas Albano (left) and DSNY Superintendent Michael Gonzalez on Dec. 29, 2011 to announce the placement of 24 new trash baskets and additional street sweeping in his district. The trash baskets and additional sweeping will help keep the corridors of 39th Avenue between 48th and 55th Streets in Sunnyside Gardens, 43rd Avenue between 43rd and 51st Streets in Sunnyside and 51st Avenue between 2nd and 5th Streets in Long Island City. The DSNY will collect and monitor the refuse to prevent overflowing.
