Communities Celebrate the Holidays

As shown at left, a driving rainstorm couldn’t keep the Jewish Festivals Committee of Forest Hills Gardens from celebrating Hanukkah by lighting a menorah at Station Square on Dec. 27, 2011. Fire Department units around the city paused to enjoy the holiday season together with parties at their respective headquarters over the last month. Pictured above are members of the Special Operations Command, which coordinates all squad company activities, during their celebration at their Roosevelt Island base.
