Cops Honored for Catching Car Crook

Three members of the 112th Precinct’s Anti-Crime Unit were honored as Cops of the Month during the 112th Precinct Community Council’s Feb. 15 meeting for their efforts to stop a suspect involved in a recent rash of vehicle break-ins around Forest Hills. As noted, Police Officers Lizabeth Klein, Todd Keyes and Caesar Romero responded to a break-in of a car on Jan. 27 in the Forest Hills area. After watching footage of the incident obtained from a nearby surveillance camera, they began a canvass of the vicinity. Moments later, according to police, they stopped a man who fit the description of the suspect and found stolen property in his possession. As shown, Officers Klein, Keyes and Romero were presented with plaques by Deputy Inspector Christopher Tamola, the precinct’s commanding officer, and Heidi Harrison Chain, the precinct council president. Shown above (from left to right) are Lt. John Gavan, 112th Precinct special operations coordinator; Chain; Klein; Keyes; P.O. Thomas Rang of the 112th Precinct Community Affairs Unit; Romero and Tamola. The Cop of the Month awards were donated by the Times Newsweekly.
