Honor Late Civic Leader at Kew Gardens Hills Library

Dozens of community and local elected officials came to the Kew Gardens Hills branch of the Queens Borough Public Library last Wednesday, Feb. 15, to unveil a plaque honoring the life of the late Patricia Dolan. As previously reported, Dolan, the former president of the Queens Civic Congress and active in the library and numerous other civic groups, was fatally struck by a car on Nov. 15, 2011 while en route to a Community Board 8 Transportation Committee meeting in Jamaica. Among those on hand to unveil the plaque (from left to right) are Richard Hellenbrecht of the Queens Civic Congress; Assemblyman David Weprin; State Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky; City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer; Queens Borough President Helen Marshall; City Council Member James Gennaro; Board 8’s Mike Sidell and Martha Taylor; Board 8 District Manager Marie Adam-Ovide; Queens Library President and CEO Thomas W. Galante; Michael Feiner of the Bayside Hills Civic Association; Board 8 member Marc Haken; Kevin Forrestal of the Hillcrest Estates Civic Association and Jean Silva of the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Conservancy. Not pictured but also in attendance was Assemblyman Michael Simanowitz.
