The Department of Sanitation has issued a Snow Alert ahead of this weekend’s potential precipitation.
Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night, New York City may see between one to two inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. The accumulation should end by early Saturday afternoon.
In preparation for the snow, sanitation workers begin initial equipment readiness, including loading salt spreaders, attaching plows when necessary, preparing tire chains and notifying supplementary personnel as needed.
The MTA has also put their Winter Weather Plan into effect. Some services may be subject to change depending on the forecasts and weather conditions. Visit mta.info to see if any service is affected.
