Suspect stole lotto tix from boro deli: Police

OZONE PARK — Police arrested a man earlier this month, who they accuse of stealing lottery tickets from an Ozone Park deli in November, the New York Post reported.

Mahadeo Persaud, 23, allegedly stole the tickets and candy at around 10:30 p.m. Nov. 21 from the Liberty Deli, at 105-31 Liberty Ave. in Ozone Park, according to court papers, the Post said.

A deli employee allegedly saw Persaud swipe the items and ordered him to pay, but Persaud allegedly grabbed him by the neck, pushed him to the floor and beat him with a broomstick before fleeing, the paper said.

Persaud was arrested Feb. 10 and charged with robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Richard Brown said, the Post reported.
