Mls Exam, College Fair Next Sat.

Next Saturday, Mar. 24, figures to be a busy day for Martin Luther School (MLS) as the Maspeth campus will host entrance exams for its middle and high school programs, a college fair and an “Academic Challenge” competition.

Students from grades five through nine are invited to take either the middle school or high school en- trance exam, which will be administered at MLS at 8:30 a.m. Students must first apply for admission to the school to take the exam.

While the test is being adminis- tered, parents can attend an informational meeting about the school and take a tour of the facilities. Parents will also be counseled on applying for financial aid.

From 9 to 11 a.m. next Saturday, all high school sophomores and juniors are invited to visit MLS’s college fair. More than 25 organizations will be at the event distributing information on their programs.

Among the groups scheduled to participate are Macauley Honors College, LIU Brooklyn, Concordia College Bronxville, St. Francis College, CUNY Sophie Davis, Mercy College, Nyack College, CUNY, Rutgers University, Queens College, La- Guardia Community College, U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Johnson & Wales University.

This year, MLS will offer a finan- cial planning for college workshop at 9 a.m. and at 10 a.m. to help students and parents understand their options for funding a college education.

Finally, MLS will host its Academic Challenge next Saturday, which will be open to all students from grades three through eight. The competition consists of a spelling bee, a Bible quiz bowl, a mathematics challenge, a science quiz bowl and a geography quiz bowl.

First and second place finishers in each category will receive either a scholarship to MLS’ high school or middle school programs or a gift card.
