No Weekend 7 Trains Bet. Qns., Manhattan

There will be no 7 train service between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square-42nd Street this weekend, from 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 17, until 5 a.m. Monday, Mar. 19. During this period, 7 trains will operate between Queensboro Plaza and Main Street-Flushing.

For service between Queens and Manhattan transfer from the 7 train to the N train at either Queensboro Plaza or Times Square or the E train at 74th Street. It was noted that Q trains will be extended to Ditmars Boulevard on Saturday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

During this time period, free shuttle buses will provide alternate service along the 7 line between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Boulevard Jackson Avenue. These buses will additionally stop at Queens Plaza for E train service.

The shuttle buses will stop as follows:

– Queensboro Plaza-on Queens Plaza South at 27th Avenue;

– Queens Plaza-on Jackson Avenue at Queens Plaza South;

– Court Square-23rd Street-on 44th Drive at 23rd Street (to Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue) or on 23rd Street at 44th Drive (to Queensboro Plaza);

– Hunters Point Avenue-on 21st Street at 49th Avenue; and

– Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue- on Vernon Boulevard at 50th Avenue.

Extra LIRR Service On St. Patrick’s Day

Though 7 train service between Queens and Manhattan will be unavailable this weekend, those wishing to attend the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Manhattan this Saturday can use the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) as an alternate.

The LIRR is providing 19 extra trains-nine westbound and 10 eastbound- on Saturday to complement its normal weekend schedule.

Customers are advised to purchase tickets in advance at LIRR ticket windows and ticket machines in order to save time and avoid lines. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, including the Family Fare discount (up to four children between ages five and 11 can ride for the advance purchase fare of 75 cents each per way when accompanied by a parent or guardian) and CityTicket ($3.75 one-way for travel within New York City.

The supplemental service is as follows:

To Manhattan

– Two trains on the Babylon branch will leave Wantagh at 8:54 a.m. and 9:54 a.m. and make all local stops to Lynbrook, then make stops at St. Albans, Jamaica, Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Penn Station.

– Three trains on the Ronkonkoma branch will depart Ronkonkoma at 7:09 a.m., 8:09 a.m. and 9:09 a.m. and make all local stops to Mineola, then stop at New Hyde Park, Jamaica, Woodside and Penn Station.

– Three trains on the Port Washington branch will depart Port Washington at 10:10 a.m., 11:10 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. and make all local stops to Flushing-Main Street, then stop at Woodside and Penn Station.

From Manhattan

– Three trains will depart Penn Station on the Babylon branch at 2:28 p.m., 2:55 p.m. and 3:55 p.m. and stop at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica and Lynbrook before making all local stops to Babylon.

– Three trains will depart Penn Station on the Port Washington branch at 3:36 p.m., 4:36 p.m. and 5:36 p.m. and stop at Woodside and Flushing- Main Street, then make all local stops to Port Washington.

– Four trains will depart Penn Station on the Ronkonkoma branch at 2:48 p.m., 3:48 p.m., 4:48 p.m. and 5:48 p.m. and stop at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola and Hicksville, then make all local stops to Ronkonkoma.

In an effort to maintain orderly travel, the LIRR advises customers not to bring any alcoholic beverages, open or closed, on trains, platforms and stations all day on Mar. 17 and through 4 a.m. the following morning. Any alcoholic beverages will be confiscated by MTA police.

Additional Subway Service Changes

The MTA has scheduled a number of service changes for several subway lines throughout the city due to construction work.

These service advisories are current as of Wednesday, Mar. 14. Last minute changes to service and operating schedules may be made due to weather-related conditions or emergency repairs. Check www.mta.info for schedule changes.

Rail lines which run through the area that will be affected include the following:

‘Fastrack’ Repairs Will Affect A, E, M Trains

Overnight repairs on the A, C and E lines in Manhattan as part of the MTA’s “Fastrack” program will result in changes on the A, E and M trains in Queens and Brooklyn during late nights on Thursday, Mar. 15, and Friday, Mar. 16, from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. it was announced.

M train service between Myrtle Avenue-Broadway in Brooklyn and 71st-Continental Avenue in Forest Hills will end early on Thursday. The last Forest Hills-bound train will depart Myrtle Avenue-Broadway at 9:54 p.m., while the last Middle Villagebound M train will depart 71st-Continental Avenues at 9:35 p.m.

After those trains depart their respective points, M trains will operate its normally-scheduled late night shuttle service between Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle Avenue-Broadway.

As a result, E trains will run local service in both directions between 71st-Continental Avenues and Broadway Lafayette Street during this period. Riders are advised to allow for additional travel time.

M train riders can transfer to the J train at Myrtle Avenue-Broadway for service to Manhattan. For service to stations served by the M line in Manhattan between 10 p.m. and midnight, transfer from the J train to the F train at Essex Street. For service to Forest Hills, transfer from the F train to the E train at West Fourth Street.

E train service will operate as normal between Jamaica Center and 71st- Continental Avenues, then run as a local between 71st-Continental Avenues and Fifth Avenue-53rd Street. From there, the E train will run on the M line between Fifth Avenue-53rd Street and 47th-50th Streets, then on the F line between 47th-50th Streets and Second Avenue, which will be the last stop.

A train service will operate between 207th Street and Lefferts Boulevard or Far Rockaway via the local line between 168th Street and 59th Street-Columbus Circle, on the D line between 59th Street-Columbus Circle and 34th Street-Herald Square on the F line between 34th Street-Herald Square and Jay Street-MetroTech. C trains will not operate.

Weekday Express On J Line In Brooklyn

Jamaica Center-bound J trains will operate express service between Myrtle Avenue and Broadway Junction on Thursday, Mar. 15, Friday, Mar. 16, and Wednesday, Mar. 21, through Friday, Mar. 23, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. This service change will also be in effect this weekend, from 4 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 17, until 10 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 18.

For service to the Kosciuszko Street, Gates Avenue, Halsey Street and Chauncey Street stations, take the J train to Broadway Junction, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound J train. For service from these stations, take the J train to Myrtle Avenue, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound J train.

During this period, all J trains will board at Broadway Junction from the Manhattan-bound platform.

Skipped Stops On 7 Line; Station Closed

Flushing-bound 7 trains will skip the 82nd Street, 90th Street, 103rd Street and 111th Street stations on Thursday, Mar. 15, Friday, Mar. 16, and Monday, Mar. 19, through Friday, Mar. 23, from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.

For service to these stations, take the 7 train to Junction Boulevard or Mets-Willets Point, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound 7 train. For service from these stations, take the 7 train to Junction Boulevard or 74th Street, then transfer to a Flushing-bound 7 train.

Additionally, the Court Square station on the 7 line remains closed at all times in both directions through 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2, due to a capital improvement project.

For service to this station, take the E or M train to Court Square-23rd Street or the 7 train to Hunters Point Avenue or Queensboro Plaza.

To transfer between the 7 and G trains, use the free out-of-system transfer between the Hunters Point Avenue stop on the 7 line and the 21st Street station on the G line.

Overnight Switch On E & M Lines

E and M trains will be rerouted between Queens and Manhattan late nights on Tuesday, Mar. 20, through Friday, Mar. 23, from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Between 10 p.m. and midnight, Manhattan-bound E trains will run on the F line between 36th Street in Queens and West Fourth Street in Manhattan, then resume normal E train service to World Trade Center. Jamaica Center-bound E trains will originate from World Trade Center, then switch to the F line between West Fourth Street and 21st Street-Queensbridge before resuming normal service to Parsons/Archer.

From 12:01 until 5 a.m., Manhattan bound E trains will run on the F line between 36th Street in Queens and Second Avenue in Manhattan, which will be the last stop. Jamaica Center-bound E trains will originate from Second Avenue and run on the F line to 21st Street-Queensbridge before resuming normal E train service to Jamaica.

On Tuesday through Thursday nights between 10 p.m. and midnight, M trains will run on the F line between 36th Street in Queens and 47th- 50th Streets in Manhattan.

As a result of these changes, there will be no service from the E and M to the Queens Plaza or Court Square- 23rd Street stations.

For service to these stations, transfer to the 7 train at 74th Street-Roosevelt Avenue or to a free shuttle bus available at the 21st Street-Queensbridge station.

No Late Night Local On E Train In Qns.

Jamaica Center-bound E trains will run express service between Roosevelt Avenue and 71st-Continental Avenue on Tuesday, Mar. 20, through Friday, Mar. 23, from 12:30 until 5 a.m.

For service to the Elmhurst Avenue, Grand Avenue, Woodhaven Boulevard, 63rd Drive and 67th Avenue stations, take the E train to 71st- Continental Avenues, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound E train. For service from these stations, take the E train to Roosevelt Avenue, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train.

Stations Skipped On E, F Lines Overnights

Manhattan-bound E and F trains will skip the Van Wyck Boulevard station on Tuesday, Mar. 20, through Friday, Mar. 23, from 12:01 until 5 a.m. During this period, Manhattanbound F trains will also skip the 75th Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard stations.

For service to these stations, take the E or F train to Union Turnpike or 71st-Continental Avenues, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train or a Jamaica-bound F train. For service from these stations, take the E train to Union Turnpike or Jamaica- Van Wyck-or the F train to Union Turnpike or Parsons Boulevard-and then transfer to a Manhattan-bound E or F train.

Weekday N Trains Skip Astoria Stops

Astoria-bound N trains will skip the 39th Avenue, 36th Avenue, Broadway and 30th Avenue stations on Thursday, Mar. 15, and Friday, Mar. 16, from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. During this period, there will be no Q train service between 57th Street- Seventh Avenue and Ditmars Boulevard.

For service to the skipped stations, take the N train to Astoria Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan bound N train. For service from these stations, take the N train to Queensboro Plaza, then transfer to an Astoria-bound N train.
