Young Bwg Teams Dealing Shutouts

U8C

In the first game of the season, the BWG Cosmos U8C started with a good performance against FC Select in Brooklyn. A good all-around team effort saw the boys win 3-0, with Liam Molloy scoring two and Matthew Iriarte getting the other.

U8D

Cosmos U8D defeated CP Select 8-0. Colin Gargan and Rory Duggan stared the scoring, followed by three goals each from Endrit Hajzeri and Pascal Kavanagh.

U8E

On Mar. 24, the BWG Cosmos U7s (U8E) clinched second place at the Long Island Rough Riders Winter Indoor League by defeating Albertson White 6-1. This is the first league this team has played in and they came together as a team, averaging four goals and over 30 passes per game. Matthew Robinson won the golden boot with seven goals and Niko Kontonis was team MVP.

U10A

The U10A boys had a productive weekend, beating Asphalt Green in CJSL play and Islas Malvinas in the New York Cup, both by 2-1 margins.

The boys played a well-fought match last Saturday against Asphalt Green. The defense stopped numerous attempted runs at goal and beat back several attacks, while Justin Silva was solid at goal and played smart throughout the match.

Elias Andriopoulas scored from distance on a free kick and Ramo Lukovic added a pretty second goal with his left foot from about 12 yards out to extend the lead to 2-0.

A late goal on a free kick was too little too late for the opponents.

The boys advanced to the semifinal round of the New York Cup last Sunday, defeating Islas Malvinas in a closely matched and hard fought game. Silva made several brilliant plays on sure goals and preserved the victory for the Cosmos, who went down 0-1 early in the second half before bouncing back with two late goals.

Matthew Vitell scored from long range with about eight minutes remaining to tie the game and change the momentum. With approximately two minutes remaining, Matthew Rubinstein ripped a shot past the goalie to put the game away.

U10B

The BWG Cosmos U10B squad defeated Millenium Soccer Kids 6-1 this past Saturday. Johan Grande Rojas went on a tear, scoring four while Kenon Sadik and Nicholas Mlcuch added one apiece.

The goal of the game came about as goalie Julian Mella distributed the ball to fullback Kenon Sadik, who passed down the line to midfield Vic Regateiro. He then distributed it to forward Matthew Krische, who onetimed the ball in the middle to Nicholas Mlcuch, who placed the ball in the corner of the net.

U13

The Gottschee U13 boys had a very good season opener this past weekend. On Saturday the boys played a CJSL game against DUSC U13 Blue and won 6-0. On Sunday morning, U13 found themselves in Millburn N.J. to play the Millburn Pyhtons. A good hard fought game with the game ending scoreless.

On Sunday afternoon, the boys were home in Brennan Field at Juniper Valley Park for a late afternoon makeup game against Buena Vista of Brooklyn. Good game from all the boys, with the end score of 6-0.

U16 & U17

It was a great weekend in the CJSL for the three older teams from BW Gottschee. The U16A won against Santos 2-1 with goals scored by William Porras and Eric Alerte. The U17 Developmental team won against Brooklyn United 2-0, with goals scored by Kevin Diaz and Joseph Cano, while the U17A won against Millennium 4-0; goals scored by Francisco Osorio, Ivan Vujin (2) and Akeem Morris.

The Cosmos boys’ 99 Pre-Academy blue team opened up its spring Academy season with a victory against Matchfit last Sunday. Timothy Weah, Daniel Zvi, Denzel Nash, and Tyrese White each scored a goal, while goalie Christian Carucci saved a penalty shot to secure a 4-0 shutout. The 99 white also beat Match Fit 7-1.

G11

Despite showing promise, Girl U11 lost to Dix Hills Dynamite 5-1.
