The Martin Luther School varsity baseball team defeated the Knox Falcons 7-5.
Eddie Mamut pitched a complete game with six scoreless innings, throwing less than 90 pitches. ` The Cougars played solid defense all game except for the fifth inning allowing fifth unearned runs when the Falcons rallied five runs to tie the game.
Clutch hitting from Kevin Schick and Eddie Mamut in the sixth set the table for Daniel Valentin’s base hit to right center field, scoring the goahead run.
Jacob Park had a huge performance at the plate, going 2-4 with a double and and insurance run scored after a wild throw when stealing first base.
The Maspeth school is 3-2 with a 2-1 record in PSAA play.
