F. Hills Swimmers Win 10th Consecutive Diocesan Title
The Tri-M Girls CYO Swim Team recently finished a decade-long run as Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan Champions.
Tri-M, also known as the Mercy Martyrs Mermaids, represents Our Lady of Mercy and Our Lady of Queen of Martyrs parishes in Forest Hills.
The CYO Olympics were held on Mar. 18 and the TriI-M girls won eight gold medals, four silver medals, and four bronze medals.
On Mar. 25, the CYO Diocesan Championships were held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. The TRIM Girls Swim Team entered the championship meet with a dual meet record of 7-1.
Tri-M took home the win with a score of 391 points, followed by St. Sebastian with a score of 375, followed by Good Shepherd with 275, Our Lady of Perpetual Help/St Andrew (OLAN) with 270, St. Francis DeSales with 221 and St. Patrick/St. Ephrem with 205.
The team was led by graduating seniors Kylie Chow, Cristine Codd, Katharine Keane, Katie LaBarge, Theresa Mansfield, Nicole Mele, Amanda Melivoi, Taylor Persaud, Monica Stefandl and Alexandra Taibe, and was coached by Mary Leong with assistant coaches Alex Leong, Carolyn McNulty and Melissa Santos.
