Gottschee Takes Pair Of Weekend Matches
Last Saturday, May 12, the BWG Cosmos Girls’ U13 team played against the NHP Lady Lions in a Divison 1-LIJSL league game.
The Cosmos girls controlled the game with possession and ball movement, but only one shot made it to the back of the net, a nicely placed shot by Andrea Cordoza. The defense and goalie were solid throughout the game and the team won 1-0.
On Sunday, May 13, in a home game at Brennan Field, the BWG Cosmos GU13 played against Sachem Sparks in a Division 1- LIJSL league game. The BWG Cosmos dominated the game the with the defensive quickness to the ball and disarming the attack.
The game was fast paced and physical, but the BWG Cosmos controlled the game with some very good connecting passes from the defense to the mid field and then to the forwards. The only goal came from Caitlin Azzopardi in the first half of the game
This win has put the team in first place of Division 1 in LIJSL league.
Boys’ U8s
The Blau Weiss Gottschee U8As were victorious against the Chernomorets Black Sea, 6-1.
The U8C team had another strong performance from the boys with a 14- 2 win over FCNY Utd. Liam Molloy scored four, Nick Ulloa scored three and Matt Iriarte, Jordan Cohen and Ryan Wiseman all netted twice. Jason Araujo got the final goal.
The U8D team defeated Soccer Fun for Kids SC 5-4, while the U8Es won 1-0 over Islas Malvinas.
U13s
The U13 boys played two league games this weekend. The first was for the CJSL where they were away to play DUSC U13 Gold. The game was one sided from the start, as Gottschee won 7-0.
The second game was played in New Jersey against Summit SC Rovers. The boys played very well and the final score was 1-0 in favor of Gottschee.
Other Gottschee action
– The U9A team tied Silver Lake Soccer Academy 10A 1-1, while the U9B squad tied CDC NY United 3-3.
– The Gottschee U10Bs took a 5-2 win over Latin Stars.
– The U12A team played in the MAPS league against Staten Island Gunners and controlled the ball and maintaining possession the entire game. Joseph Sepulveda had a hat trick and Flabio Anjo added one for a 4-0 win.
– The U16A tied 3-3 vs Academia Argentina.
– The U17 Green team lost to Asphalt Green Wave, while the U17 DT squad had a big 9-2 win over South Bronx United.
– The Cosmos 99 Pre-Academy Blue team had another successful weekend as they shut out Marlboro’s U13 team in a Maps league game 4-0 on Saturday and then returned to the turf on Sunday to defeat Met Oval’s 99 Academy team 10-1.
