Bandits Sought For Sunnyside Mugging

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in tracking down two males who mugged a woman on a Sunnyside street earlier this month and remain at large as of press time.

The NYPD released last Friday, May 18, surveillance camera images of the perpetrators, each of whom is described as a Hispanic male between 15 and 20 years of age standing at around 5’7″-tall and weighing about 150 lbs.

Law enforcement sources said the robbery occurred just before 7 p.m. on the night of May 11 in the vicinity of 50th Street and 43rd Avenue.

According to information obtained by police, the female victim was walking to her nearby residence when the two suspects approached her from behind.

Reportedly, the duo grabbed her by the neck and removed her iPhone, then threw her to the ground. After knocking the woman over, the suspects fled from the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Members of the 108th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. The woman was treated for injuries to her neck and shoulder, authorities noted.

The incident remains under investigation by the 108th Precinct Detective Squad, police said.
