Queens Supreme Court Justice Jeremy S. Weinstein recently presided over the retirement and awards ceremony of Queens Court of Claims Judge Leonard Livote, who recently retired from the Army Reserve after 27 years of service. Livote, a senior military judge who attained the rank of colonel, received the Legion of Merit Medal for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service and achivement. The Legion of Merit medal is the sixth-highest award among U.S. military decorations. Brigadier Gen. Patrick Reinert, commander of the U.S. Army Reserve Legal Command in Gaithersburg, Md., presented Livote with the medal, while Col. Robert Rigsby of the 150th JADET/LSO in Alexandria, Va. offered Livote retirement gifts on behalf of the U.S. Army Trial Judiciary. The awards ceremony was attended by Judge Livote’s military and judicial colleagues as well as court staff, friends and family.
