For showing a big heart, some Queens kids were able to meet a few big leaguers.
Mike Baxter, Daniel Murphy and Jonathon Niese of the New York Mets visited the students from P.S. 12, who collected more than 2,000 pounds of food for City Harvest, the most in New York City on Wednesday May 30.
“I’m so proud a school from Queens, just 15 minutes from the stadium, was able to do this,” said Queens native Mike Baxter.

Three lucky students scored the chance to play catch with the major leaguers.
Dawa Sherpa, who described herself as “sort of” a Mets fan, was excited for the chance to show her stuff.
“They’re really famous and I’ve never ever done this in my life.”
The players signed autographs and took pictures with the excited students before helping load the City Harvest truck with more than 75 boxes of donated food.
