Eight nurses at New York Hospital Queens in Flushing were honored by the medical center’s adminsitration last Friday, May 11, as part of National Nurses Week. Among those recognized was Yuk-King Kong-Lee, who received the Nurse of the Year award. The other honorees included Ruth Hopkins (Nurse Leader of the Year), Ione Chambers (Jack Fanning Nurse of Compassion Award), Xiying Zhang (Jack Fanning Nurse Assistant of Compassion Award), nursing students Russell Guerrier and Aishling Lavelle (Felicia Grant Scholarship awards), Susana Airey (Medical Staff Society Award for Nursing) and Marie Dumond (Medical Staff Society Award for Nursing Assistant). The honorees are pictured along with NYHQ’s Board of Trustees and administration, including Dr. George Heinrich, board chairman; Michaelle Williams, senior vice president and chief nursing officer; Stephen S. Mills, president and chief executive officer; Anne Alexis Coté Taylor, board member; and Dr. Stephen Rimar, executive vice president and chief medical officer.
