Rienzi Wins First of Season

Beats Haller & Haller In RGMVM Play

After starting the season 0-3, Rienzi and Sons got their first RGMVM League win of the season on Sunday, Apr. 29 with a 15-5 victory over Haller and Haller.

Derek Portalatin got the win for Rienzi, allowing just three runs over four innings while striking out eight. Haller and Haller scored three runs in the second inning but Portalatin came back to strike out the next three batters, limiting the damage.

August Larsen, Sam Navarra, Aidan Mooney, Brandon Balsamo and Kyle Conlin each scored two runs for Rienzi. Mooney had three hits in the game, and also pitched a scoreless fourth inning, striking out two.

Massimo Todaro, Nicholas Hutson and Kevin Klaar also added hits for the Rienzi offense.

Balsamo made his pitching debut in the sixth, striking out one before yielding closing duties to Frank Navarra, who struck out the last batter to preserve the victory.
