City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley (D-Middle Village) cleaned up graffiti in her district and cut the ribbon on new school computers as she continued to rack up union endorsements for her congressional run last week.
Crowley visited PS 90, at 86-50 109th St., to talk to students last Thursday about the importance of technology.
“Computers are critical tools for students,” Crowley said. “We need to make sure our children have the best equipment possible to prepare them for the future.”
The computers were purchased as part of a $100,000 grant secured by Crowley from the Council. The funds will also go toward updating technology in several classrooms at the school.
Crowley is a candidate running for the newly created Queens congressional seat. She is currently involved in a Democratic primary with three other candidates: state Assembly members Rory Lancman (D-Fresh Meadows) and Grace Meng (D-Flushing) and Bayside allergist Dr. Robert Mittman.
Crowley also picked up several union endorsements last week.
On May 15, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3, based in Electchester, endorsed Crowley.
And last Thursday, the city Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, which represents both active and retired police officers, endorsed the councilwoman.
Crowley also got the nod from the Building and Construction Trades Council, representing 220,000 construction workers in New York state.
The councilwoman also teamed up with the 104th Precinct, which is in her district, Monday to help at a graffiti cleanup at businesses along Dry Harbor Road in Middle Village.
“We all have a responsibility to keep our neighborhood clean,” she said.
