Wanted For Armed Heist In Ozone Pk.

Using a bicycle as his getaway ride, an armed crook pedaled away with a large sum of cash after holding up an Ozone Park bank last Saturday morning, June 23, police said.

Officers from the 106th Precinct stand guard outside the Valley National Bank on Liberty Avenue in Ozone Park after it was held up by a bandit last Saturday, June 23.

Law enforcement sources reported that the bandit, who remains at large as of press time, held up the Valley National Bank located at the corner of Liberty Avenue and 107th Street.

The suspect is described by the NYPD as an African-American male between 25 and 30 years of age wearing a white hat and shirt who was last seen fleeing on a mountain bike.

Reportedly, the heist took place at around 10:15 a.m. last Saturday morning, when the robber entered the branch and approached a teller.

At the counter, authorities said, the suspect showed the handle of a gun in the waistband of his bands and verbally demanded cash. Police said the teller handed several thousands of dollars in cash to the bandit, who exited from the branch and hopped onto a bicycle parked outside.

He was last seen fleeing southbound along 108th Street, then westbound along 107th Avenue.

Members of the 106th Precinct responded to the scene. There were no reported injuries.

Police initiated a canvass of the surrounding area, but following an extensive search, no immediate arrests were made.

The case was presented to the NYPD Major Case Squad and the 106th Precinct Detective Squad for further investigation, law enforcement sources said.
