L.I.C. Man Killed On GCP

A late-night ride on the Grand Central Parkway turned out to be the last for a Long Island City man who was killed after his motorcycle crashed on the highway in Glen Oaks last Tuesday, June 19, police reported.

He was identified by law enforcement sources as Nick Olivera, 41, of 39th Street.

Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 11:45 p.m. last Tuesday along the eastbound lanes of the Grand Central Parkway near the Little Neck Parkway exit.

According to information obtained by police, Olivera was riding eastbound on a 2003 Honda motorcycle when he suddenly lost control of his ride and crashed.

Members of the 105th Precinct responded to the scene along with paramedics, who pronounced Olivera dead at the location as a result of severe trauma to his body.

No criminality is suspected, and the NYPD Accident Investigation Squad is continuing its inquiry into the fatal accident, police said.
