JAMAICA — A Jamaica man was killed after his all-terrain vehicle struck a metal pole over the weekend, police said.
According to police, officers within the 113th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a bike injury Saturday around 10 p.m. in front of 119-50 Merrick Blvd. Upon arrival, officers found 33-year-old Dave Thomas had been injured while riding his ATV on the sidewalk, police said.
EMS responded to the scene and brought Thomas to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
According to police, a preliminary investigation found that Thomas was driving his ATV on the sidewalk southbound on Merrick Boulevard from 119th Avenue, where he struck a metal pole at the location.
