One man arrested in South Ozone car theft

SOUTH OZONE PARK — An off-duty FBI agent opened fire on three would-be car thieves after they tried breaking into his car, police said.

According to the NYPD, the agent saw suspects outside of his house, on Sutter Avenue near 130th Street, just after 5 a.m. July 18.

The agent called 911 and fired at the suspects from his second-story bedroom window, striking one in the back, according to police.

After searching the area and local hospitals, the injured suspect, Adrian Ricketts, 23, was found at Brookdale Hospital in stable condition, with two other people, police said.

Ricketts was later arrested, but his two friends at the hospital were not charged, as their role in the alleged car theft was not clear, cops said.
