Armed Bike Thief Busted

Robbed Male On Ridgewood Street

Following a nearly four-month investigation, detectives charged a Buffalo man last Thursday, July 26, for the armed robbery of a male victim on a Ridgewood street in April, law enforcement sources said.

The suspect was identified by police as 21-year-old Joseph Rosario of Delaware Avenue in Buffalo.

According to information obtained by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the holdup occurred at 5 p.m. on Apr. 9 at the corner of St. Felix and Seneca avenues.

Reportedly, the male victim- who was pushing a BMX bicycle- and a friend were walking along the street when Rosario, who was riding in a Mercedes-Benz SUV-pulled up alongside them.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly came out of the vehicle, pointed a black firearm at the male victim and demanded his bike.

Rosario reportedly took the bike from the male and pedaled it away from the scene.

The robbery was reported to the 104th Precinct; there were no injuries.

Members of the 104th Precinct Detective Squad tracked down Rosario last Thursday and charged him with first-degree armed robbery, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.

Court records noted that the suspect was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Sunday, July 29, before Judge Deborah Stevens-Modica, who ordered him held on $25,000 bail.
