Early this morning a three-alarm fire broke out in a building in Flushing, sending 17 firefighters to the hospital and seriously injuring two civilians, said the FDNY.
At about 2:55 a.m., authorities responded to a fire at 143-01 45th Avenue in a multiple residential dwelling with a laundromat on the ground floor. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by 5:56 a.m.
According to the FDNY, two civilians were sent to Flushing Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Seventeen firemen were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
