Four people were hospitalized with injuries after being involved in a two-car crash at an intersection of the Ridgewood/Middle Village border last Tuesday night, July 24, FDNY sources said. Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 6:45 p.m. at the corner of Metropolitan and Eliot avenues. Members of Engine Co. 291, Ladder Co. 140, Squad Co. 252, Rescue 4, Battalion 28, the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Firefighters used the Hurst tool-commonly known as the “jaws of life”-to pry open one of the damaged vehicles and removed one of the injured victims. All four were treated at a local hospital and are expected to make a recovery.
