Christ the King Golden Jubilee

Year-Long Celebration Commences

Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village opened its 2012-2013 school year last week with a celebratory kick-off of its 50th Year Jubilee.

Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village not only opened its doors for the new school year last week, but also kicked off the year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary. Pictured from left to right are students Peter Kean, freshman; Jamen Williams, sophomore; Francesca Giglio, junior; and Jackie Dolphin, senior.

The school opened in 1962 with two separate divisions under one roof. The girls division was taught by the Daughters of Wisdom and the boys division was taught under the Marist Brothers. In 1973, the two divisions became one coeducational institution.

Chairman of Christ the King’s Board of Trustees, Senator Serphin R. Maltese stated, “The 50th Anniversary Jubilee of Christ the King is a testament of the strength and vision of the school. Over the past 50 years, we have been committed to offering our students a safe environment, an excellent education, a place to learn personal responsibility, an opportunity to build a strong body as well as a sharp mind, the challenge of competition in a first class sports program, and a home that places a premium on spiritual growth.”

Principal Peter Mannarino added, “Over the last 50 years, Christ the King has reached a level of academic distinction making it one of the most sought after private high schools in New York City. Each year, our students achieve academic excellence that results in millions of dollars of scholarships from colleges across the nation. Our dedicated teachers and support staff have demonstrated both the knowledge and commitment to make our academic program second to none.”

This year’s 50th Jubilee Celebration will include events throughout the school year, including a Beatles revue show and a stage production of Beauty and the Beast, all culminating in the school’s 50th anniversary Golden Jubilee Dinner Dance on Apr. 19, 2013.
