Deadly Domestic Dispute In Sunnyside
Moments after allegedly murdering his wife during a dispute inside their Sunnyside apartment last Thursday morning, Aug. 30, a 41-year-old man took his own life by jumping off the platform of the nearby elevated 7 train, police reported.
Amis Cale stabbed his wife, identified as 37-year-old Jennifer Cale, about the body inside their residence on 39th Place off Queens Boulevard just before 8:05 a.m. last Thursday, then fled from the scene, law enforcement sources said.
Officers from the 108th Precinct responded to the location after the couple’s daughter reportedly discovered her injured mother. Jennifer Cale was brought by EMS units to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police commenced a search of the surrounding area for Amis Cale when they responded to a report of a man who jumped from the 40th Street station on the elevated 7 line above Queens Boulevard.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Amis Cale, who reportedly ran to the station shortly after stabbing his wife, then jumped off the platform to the boulevard below.
Paramedics brought Amis Cale to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, law enforcement sources said.
