Fiery Crash on the Van Wyck Expressway

Three people were hospitalized after a pair of cars collided on the Van Wyck Expressway in Kew Gardens Hills early last Saturday morning, Sept. 29, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the crash occurred at around 3:50 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the expressway near the Jewel Avenue exit. According to FDNY sources, one of the cars burst into flames shortly after impacting with the other vehicle, which overturned. Responding to the accident (in the order of their arrival) were members of engine companies 305, 315 and 324; Ladder companies 151, 125 and 138; Rescue 4; Battalion 50; NYPD Emergency Services Unit 10; the 112th Precinct and EMS units. The injured victims were rushed by paramedics to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center; all are expected to make a recovery.
