Gun-Toting Bandit Attacks Woman In Maspeth
Police are searching for an armed bandit who robbed and assaulted a woman in broad daylight along a Maspeth block last Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 17, it was reported.
The perpetrator is described by law enforcement sources as a male believed to be 30 years of age with a light complexion, standing 6′-tall and weighing about 160 lbs. Police said he was armed with a silver handgun.
According to authorities, the mugging took place just before 3:30 p.m. last Wednesady on 60th Drive near 60th Street.
Reportedly, the female victim was walking through the area when she was approached from behind by the suspect, who demanded her purse.
Police said the man displayed a silver firearm and struck her in the eye. After assaulting the woman, it was noted, the crook grabbed her bag and fled from the scene in an unknown direction.
The incident was later reported to the 104th Precinct. The woman suf- minor injuries.
Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for the suspect but, despite their efforts, no immediate arrests were made, law enforcement sources noted.
The 104th Precinct Detective Squad is continuing their investigation into the case, police said.
