Hoping to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, thousands laced up their walking shoes and hit the pavement at Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Sunday, Sept. 30, for the “Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s” sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association’s New York Chapter. Proceeds raised from the walkathon were donated to the nonprofit group for research and treatment of the debilitating disease afflicting the mind. Among those who participated in the event was a contingent of students and faculty from The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica Estates, as shown in the photo at the top of the page.
