Podiatry & Wound Care Hyperbaric Center: Friendly, patient-focused care

Podiatry & Wound Care Hyperbaric Center has been at 46-04 31st Avenue, Long Island City for the last two years. At the facility, Dr. Mary Andrea and her staff provide both hyperbaric oxygen therapy as well as an array of podiatric services — all with friendly, patient-focused care.

Originally located in Parkway Hospital, Dr. Mary Andrea had to move her practice after the hospital closed in 2008. As one of the only facilities that offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the borough, Dr. Andrea wanted to ensure that her services remained available to the public.

“People are really in need of the treatment,” said office manager Mara Kiliski. “All of Queens doesn’t have much in terms of hyperbarics. It really does wonders.”

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves having a patient lie down in a pressure chamber and breathe in 100 percent oxygen. The treatment assists with ailments like chronic bone infection, diabetic wounds, carbon monoxide poisoning, stroke, brain injuries, Alzheimer’s and other diseases and injuries. Dr. Andrea’s establishment is accredited by the National Undersea and American College of Hyperbaric Medicine.

The Center’s podiatric services include tending to the Achilles tendon, arthritic feet, ankle sprains, athletes foot, calluses, warts and other ailments.

Working alongside her is her educated and professional staff, many of whom are versed in several languages. Together the team provides attentive and thorough care to patients on an individual basis.

“Patients just love to come here,” Kiliski said.

Podiatry & Wound Care Hyperbaric Center is open Monday through Saturday. Appointments can be made by calling 718-482-0010. The facility offers convenient payment plans and most insurances are accepted.
