Firefighters rushed to put out a small fire that broke out inside the basement of a home in Glendale on Christmas Eve Monday, Dec. 24, 2012. According to FDNY sources, the blaze ignited at around 1:10 p.m. at the corner of Doran Avenue and 88th Street. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 319, 286 and 294; Ladder companies 135 and 143 and Battalion 46. There were no injuries. One hose line was used by firefighters to bring the blaze under control, it was noted.
