Coming Out to Support the Lgbt Community

The Queens Lesbian and Gay Alliance held its 20th Winter Pride event on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Astoria World Manor in Astoria. The event supported the Queens Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival and provides a venue to honor those who significantly contributed to the causes and concerns of the borough’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Among those attending were (first to fourth from left) Queens County Clerk Audrey Pheffer; State Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky; former City Council Member Melinda Katz, City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer; (sixth to 13th from left) Judge Doris Ling Cohen; City Council Members Karen Koslowitz and Daniel Dromm; State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli; Andrew Ronan, the evening’s emcee and Winter Pride Co-Chair; Chris Calvert, the Pride Committee’s other co-chair; local Democratic District Leader Martha Taylor; and (far right) State Sen. Daniel Squadron.
