Meng Gets a Seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee

Rep. Grace Meng announced that she has been selected to serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The panel oversees U.S. foreign policy towards all nations around the world, and has jurisdiction over foreign aid and the State Department. It also has oversight towards key international organizations such as the United Nations.

“I am privileged and honored to have been awarded a spot on one of the most important and influential committees in the House of Representatives,” said Meng. “For most Members of Congress, foreign affairs is an international subject. But here in Queens, foreign affairs is a local issue. The borough is a snapshot of the world. It’s the most ethnically and culturally diverse county in America with people from across the globe speaking dozens of different languages. From the Middle East and Europe to Africa and Asia, I look forward to tackling the many international issues important to the people of Queens including further strengthening our relationship with vital U.S. allies Israel, South Korea and India.”

Meng was appointed to the Foreign Affairs Committee by the House Democratic Caucus.

Late last month, Meng also secured a seat on the House Small Business Committee.
