The Quintet of the Americas (shown here in front of the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park) will perform three Crystal Winter concerts in Queens in the coming week. At 11 am., they will perform at the Salvation Army Temple at 86-07 35th Ave. in Jackson Heights; from there, they will travel to East Elmhurst for a 1:30 p.m. concert at Elm-Cor Senior Center at 98-19 Astoria Blvd. Then, on Wednesday, January 16, the quintet will play at 12:15 p.m. at Catholic Charities Bayside Senior Center at 221-15 Horace Harding Blvd. in Bayside. All three programs will feature Winter Music by Adam Schoenberg, commissioned by the Quintet last year, as well as popular works such as Let It Snow, Silver Bells, an arrangement of Prokofiev’s Troika from Lt. Kije Suite and an improvisation inspired by Van Gogh’s painting Starry Night.
