Blizzard Brings a Special Snow Day for All at Juniper Valley Park

Last weekend’s blizzard dumped 15 inches of snow in the Middle Village area, and hundreds of children took advantage of the snowfall by sledding at Juniper Valley Park last Saturday afternoon, Feb. 9. The day had been declared a “snow day” by the city’s Parks Department, and Juniper Valley Park was one of five locations across the city where the agency provided special entertainment that included free hot chocolate, snowball fights and snow angel contests. The fun at Juniper Valley took place on the slope near the Juniper North Playground, just off the corner of Juniper Boulevard South and 78th Street, which has been known to be a popular sledding destination for years following major winter storms.
