Man on Tracks Is Killed by L Train

Investigate Death Near Brooklyn Station

A man was struck and killed by an oncoming subway train as it approached a station on the Ridgewood/Bushwick border in Brooklyn last Wednesday night, Feb. 6, according to Fire Department sources.

The victim’s identity was not disclosed by police.

Sources with the MTA stated that the incident took place at around 9:05 p.m. along the Manhattan-bound L train tracks near the DeKalb Avenue station, located below the intersection of Wyckoff and DeKalb avenues.

According to Fire Department sources, the man was about 200 feet inside the tunnel when he was struck.

Numerous Fire Department units along with EMS, the 83rd Precinct and the NYPD Transit Bureau responded to the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the location.

Service on the L line was disrupted for just over 90 minutes while emergency personnel responded to the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the MTA.
