Sparks flew on a Ridgewood block on Monday night, Feb. 11, after an overhead transformer and a manhole caught fire, FDNY sources stated. Reportedly, the incident ignited at around 7:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Greene and Cypress avenues. Among the units which responded to the scene (listed in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 271, 277, 291 and 218; Ladder companies 124, 112 and 140; Squad Co. 252; Rescue 2 and Battalions 28 and 37-under the direction of Division 11-along with the 104th Precinct and EMS units. No injuries were reported.
